Food Truck Rodeo
The season’s final Food Truck Rodeo at the Rochester Public Market is taking place on Wednesday. There will be food trucks and live music from Mr. Heartache at the market from 5 to 9 p.m.
Food Truck Rodeo began in April and takes place on the last Wednesday of every month. It’s been around since 2011. Parking is available at the market or on the nearby streets.
RCSD receivership meeting
The Rochester City School District’s series of meetings to discuss plans for its seven schools under receivership continues. Wednesday marks the final meeting in the series. It takes place at the Virgil I. Grissom School No. 7 starting at 6 p.m.
New York State puts schools under receivership if they’ve been “struggling” or “persistently struggling” academically. If the school fails to meet the academic targets in one or two years, an outsider receiver will be appointed to take over these schools. During the meetings, district leaders will speak about current school performance and outline the receivership framework.
Here are the schools under receivership: Dr. Iris J. Banister School No. 33, Dr. David and Ruth Anderson Academy School No. 16, East Lower School, Edison Career & Technology High School, Henry Hudson School No. 28, James Monroe High School, and Virgil I. Grissom School No. 7. You can see the latest report on all seven schools under receivership on RCSD’s website here.
Rush-Henrietta school safety forum
The Rush-Henrietta Central School District is holding a safety forum on Wednesday in response to last week’s fights at the district’s senior high school. It starts at 6 p.m. in the Senior High School auditorium. You can submit questions in advance here.
There was also a school board meeting on Tuesday night, where dozens of parents, students, and teachers called for change after the fights. The fights led to a lockdown last Thursday morning, and Monroe County sheriff’s deputies say one student had to be taken to the hospital with a head injury.
