A small plane crashed at a park in suburban Bolingbrook on Tuesday evening, leaving two people injured, authorities said.
The Bolingbrook Fire Department said firefighters and police responded to reports of a small plane crash at Indian Chase Meadows Park at 6:29 p.m. Two people were aboard the aircraft and were taken to Advocate Good Samaritan Hospital, where they were reported to be in stable condition.
Video from the scene showed the plane had sustained significant damage, with a section of the aircraft bearing the tail number ripped into multiple pieces.
Residents were asked to avoid the area while emergency crews remained on the scene.
As of late Tuesday, the cause of the crash remained unclear.
The Federal Aviation Administration and the National Transportation Safety Board are conducting an investigation.
