Early Monday morning reports indicated the Bears planned to start veteran Case Keenum in wake of an injury suffered by starting quarterback Caleb Williams.

Although the team’s backup quarterback, Tyson Bagent, cleared the NFL’s concussion protocol over the weekend, NFL Network’s Ian Rapoport reported Keenum would be playing at Soldier Field Monday. Neither player has started a regular-season game since 2023.

The Bears had announced Sunday that Bagent had no injury designation for their Week 3 game.

Bagent returned to practice on Saturday after he suffered a concussion in last weekend’s 9-3 loss to Minnesota. Bagent entered against the Vikings after Caleb Williams left with a right hamstring injury.

Williams did get some good news over the weekend, despite being ruled out for Monday’s game.

According to a new report from ESPN’s Adam Schefter and Rapoport, Williams was diagnosed with a Grade 2 strain of his right hamstring following last week’s loss to the Minnesota Vikings.

That injury has a recovery timetable of approximately three-to-four weeks, according to the report.

The Bears take on the Eagles at Soldier Field starting at 7:15 p.m. CT.
