September 26, 2026 Nashville, TN 25 yards (SCY) Scores: Florida – 206, Vanderbilt – 55 Full ResultsThe University of Florida women’s swimming team kicked off their 2026-2027 competition season with a resounding victory over Vanderbilt on Saturday, winning all 14 events to score 206 points against the Commodores’ 55.
Senior Catie Choate and junior Beatriz Bezerra were top contributors for the Gators, with both women winning two individual events apiece and helping to secure the victory in the relay events.
The defending SEC champion in the 200 back, Choate swept the backstroke events, prevailing in the 100 (53.25) and 200 back (1:56.56). Her times were not quite as fast as her performances at last season’s opener, when she clocked times of 52.43 and 1:54.66 against Indiana University.
Choate also raced the backstroke leg on Florida’s winning 200 medley relay, splitting 24.69 to mark the only sub-25 split of the meet, and anchored the squad’s winning 400 medley relay.
Bezerra, meanwhile, won the 50 free (22.45) and 100 fly (54.36) in addition to racing with Choate on the 200 medley relay and 400 free relay.
Maddie Moreth and Sylvia Statkevicius joined Choate and Bezerra on the 200 medley relay, with the squad turning in a winning time of 1:39.42, while Lainy Kruger and Statkevicius were the other two members on the 400 free relay and helped the team secure the victory in a time of 3:21.81.
Freshmen Gators Moreth and Victoria Procacinni made their college swimming debuts in style, claiming two individual event victories apiece. Moreth won the 100 breast (1:01.91) and 200 breast (2:15.05), and Procacinni secured the win in the 500 free (4:52.26) and 1000 free (9:52.75).
The Vanderbilt freshmen proved to be strong contributors throughout the meet, logging a series of 3rd-place finishes for the Commodores. Sydney Green took 3rd in the 1000 free (10:40.41), Amanda Vileikis took 3rd in the 100 breast (1:05.89) and Matilda White rounded out the group by taking 3rd in the 50 free (24.13).
Seniors Melissa Cowen and Kate Heintz and sophomore Sophie Pham were also key point scorers for the Commodores. Cowen placed 3rd in the 200 breast (2:21.54) and 4th in the 100 breast (1:06.21), while Heintz took 3rd in the 200 fly (2:09.39) and 4th in the 100 fly (58.30).
Pham snagged 3rd-place in the 100 fly (55.75), missing the team’s all-time top 10 performer list by three-tenths of a second, and finished 6th in the 100 back (57.76). She also helped the Commodores’ to a 3rd-place finish in the 200 medley relay, joining teammates Aubrey Hull, Amelia Harper and Brooke Miller to clock an overall time of 1:45.32.
