ROCHESTER, N.Y. – The outermost bands of the Nor’easter will continue to bring some lighter rain showers across much of Western New York this evening. These showers will be quite light and deliver under a quarter of an inch of rain. Most locations in Western New York will see accumulations under a tenth of an inch. Breezy and gusty winds will continue through the evneing before decreasing after midnight. Overnight lows will stay around 58 degrees for Rochester, and the mid-50s for areas south of Rochester as persistent and wide-coverage cloud cover lingers. After midnight, winds will stay out of the north/northeast, but gusts will decrease to around 15 mph as we head into Monday morning.
Expect a few spotty showers Monday morning with a slightly higher precipitation chance in the Finger Lakes. Though the Nor’easter will be weakening as we head through the next 24 to 48 hours, it will still support persistent cloud coverage through Monday. Winds will not nearly be as high as Sunday with anticipated northeasterly winds between 10 and 15 mph. Highs on Monday will only reach into the mid-60s with a forecasted high of 64 degrees for Rochester. The Nor’easter will continue to weaken through the next 48 hours, and most cloud coverage should be moving out of Western New York by later on Tuesday. The Nor’easter will move up the Northeast coast toward coastal Maine before it dissipates over the northern Atlantic.
Temperatures will be on an upward trend through Thursday with a good chance of seeing temperatures 5 to 10 degrees above average for this time of the year on Wednesday and Thursday. Temperatures will challenge 70 on Tuesday, reach into the mid-70s by Wednesday, and may top out in the upper-70s by Thursday. The timing of the cold front behind this warmup is not completely certain yet. The data has been trending the cold front later Thursday into Friday. Rain chances are still relatively low Thursday and Friday as this cold front is not expected to bring much precipitation. However, it is expected to drop our temperatures back down into the 60s by the end of this coming week.
