ROCHESTER, N.Y. — The International Plaza in Rochester hosted an event celebrating the power of women in soul music, bringing together local talent and the community for a Sunday afternoon of live entertainment.
“Listen, Rochester’s the best when it comes to talent. Like, I go to Buffalo. I go to Syracuse. They got great talent, but nothing beats the talent in Rochester,” one attendee said.
“Can’t nobody beat us here in Rochester. I’m sorry, Buffalo. I’m sorry, Syracuse. But we’re the cream of the crop as far as music is concerned,” the attendee said.
Organizers said the plaza is a hub for celebrating Rochester’s diverse culture and music. The next event at the plaza, the Latin American Festival, is scheduled for one week from Sunday from 1 to 5 p.m. and will feature music, dance and food.
The afternoon highlighted the strong sense of community and pride in Rochester’s music scene, organizers said.
