Spirits fans are rejoicing with the latest launch from WhistlePig Whiskey, which takes enthusiasts from its picturesque farm in modern-day Shoreham, Vermont all the way to ancient Egypt.

Those in the know are aware of the brand’s exclusive yearly launch, The Boss Hog, which takes inspiration from a different culture, country, and flavor profile every year. From Siren’s Song, a rye whiskey aged in barrels seasoned with fig nectar and inspired by Greece, to The Juggernaut, a spice-forward rye inspired by India, with notes of saffron, cinnamon, cardamom, nutmeg, fennel, poppy, and black peppercorn, every launch is as unique as its inspiration.

Last year’s launch, Feather & Flame, was inspired by central Mexico and made with pulque, a fermented beverage made with agave, and xocolatl, a bitter and spicy drink made from cocoa beans. At the time of its debut, fans called it WhistlePig’s “best one yet,” but the 2026 version may dethrone its predecessor.

The Boss Hog XIII: The Golden Pharaoh

WhistlePig Whiskey

The Boss Hog XIII: The Golden Pharaoh takes inspiration from Egypt, specifically from a recipe for tiger nut cake found on an ancient tomb. Made with a first-of-its-kind finish in barrels seasoned with Egyptian black honey and tiger nuts, the decadent whiskey gives notes of cinnamon and brown sugar at the nose, honey and molasses at the palate, and a subtle almond and oatmeal finish.

If the sweet and spicy Feather & Flame is like a square of dark chocolate you indulge in after a meal, then Golden Pharaoh’s smoke and honey makes it a cigar at the end of the night.

“Through our research, we came across a tiger nut cake recipe carved into the side of a tomb dating back more than 3,000 years. We learned that tiger nuts and black honey were a true taste of the Egyptian land and its people, and that really resonated with us,” said Meghan Ireland, Head Blender at WhistlePig, in a statement shared with Parade. “We recreated the recipe on our farm and fell in love with the flavor combination. That led us to experiment with the finishing for this year’s The Boss Hog to see what those flavors could do to Rye whiskey. We were not disappointed!”

A 750-milliliter bottle of this year’s launch is available at spirits retailers nationwide for a suggested retail price of $599.99. Fans are already raving about it on social media, taking to WhistlePig’s Instagram comments to say that they “need” to try it, with some sharing that they already “got my case of it!”
