No. 8 Alabama soccer beat Texas A&M 1-0 on Thursday evening to remain undefeated in SEC play. This marks Alabama’s fifth away win this season as well as goalkeeper Madi Munguia’s seventh shutout of the season.
“Another great win for us tonight,” head coach Wes Hart said. “Winning on the road in the SEC is never easy. That makes three shutout wins in three [SEC] games, with two of them on the road.”
The ball was end-to-end much of the first half, with Alabama coming out with nine shots taken. The Aggies took seven shots.
It wasn’t until the 44th minute that the ball found the back of the net. Alabama forward Kiley Kukan sent the ball to the bottom left of the goal off of her right boot.
In the second half, the Crimson Tide took just four shots. Texas A&M had one more, at five.
Out of Alabama’s 14 shots, just four were on goal and the Aggies had only one shot on goal for Munguia’s one save of the night.
Munguia is now in a four-way tie for second place in Alabama single season shutouts. She trails record-holder McKinley Crone, who had 10 shutouts in 2022.
The Crimson Tide will be back in action Sunday at No. 21 Oklahoma. The game is set to start at noon CT.
