LYONS, N.Y. — Animal rights activists have been marching from Albany to Wayne County for the past 13 days to protest animal testing.

The 207-mile march is set to end Saturday at Marshall BioResources in North Rose, Wayne County. Protestors rallied outside the Wayne County District Attorney’s Office in Lyons on Friday, calling for District Attorney Christine Callanan to open an investigation into animal welfare violations at Marshall BioResources.
March organizers claimed thousands of beagles and other types of animals are being bred and used for testing at the facility.
Saturday’s three-mile march is scheduled to start at 10:30 a.m. on North Main Street in North Rose and will end at Marshall BioResources on Lake Bluff Road.

In the statement, the company says the protest claims are false:
“Since being founded in North Rose in 1939, MBR has become widely respected in scientific and medical worlds because of how we treat our animals, our more than 200 local employees, and our partners. We raise dogs, cats, ferrets, and minipigs for important scientific, medical, and veterinary studies that help protect and save human and animal lives. MBR itself does not conduct that research with dogs, including discovery- or safety-related studies.
“What you’re seeing are animal rights activists’ manipulations of a disgruntled former employee’s sentiments. These run contrary to multiple, unannounced regulatory inspections–including three USDA inspections in May, June, and September 2026 that all resulted in clean reports with no citations. Unfortunately, the submission is a playbook tactic used by activists to gain attention and justify illegal actions such as forced entry and animal theft, which have led to multiple felony charges for participants–including several who have come to Wayne County.
