First Alert Weather: Tracking dry weather through Saturday and impacts from a Nor’easter on Sunday ...Middle East

News by : (News10NBC) -

ROCHESTER, N.Y. – Friday has started out cool. Thursday night’s temperatures bottomed out at 40 degrees at the Rochester airport, while locations further south saw temperatures in the mid to upper 30s! The weather is reflected the change of season very well. The rest of Friday will be absolutely beautiful. You can expect highs in the mid-60s, mostly sunny skies, and a northeasterly breeze between 10 to 15 mph. Some thin, high clouds are expected to move in overnight which may keep Friday night’s lows in the low-50s for Rochester. For higher elevations, low temperatures will likely be in the low to mid-40s. Not quite as chilly as Thursday night. Valleys east of the cloud cover (Finger Lakes, southeastern Lake Ontario) may see some foggy patches towards Saturday morning.

A lot is happening this weekend. The final day of Fringe Fest, the Naples Grape Fest, the Fairport Oktoberfest, the Bills home game,…the list could continue. No issues are expected for Saturday. It will be cloudier than Friday, but there is no rain in the forecast. Temperatures will largely stay in the upper 60s with a forecasted high of 69 degrees for Sunday. It will be breezy Saturday as well with a northeasterly wind between 10 and 20 mph with some gusts (especially in the higher elevations) reaching 25 to 30 mph. This is from the Nor’easter moving closer to the east coast.

Sunday is the day we are tracking wrap-around rain from this weekend’s Nor’easter. Though this storm is bringing a mess to the coast, it should not cause major weather for Rochester. However, rain is becoming increasingly likely for Sunday afternoon and evening. At the very least, the first half of the morning should be dry, but rain will start to drift east to west starting late morning and through the afternoon. Those with activities down in the Finger Lakes and eastern Southern Tier, including Grape Fest, should keep this rain in mind as amounts could be a little heavier in these locations. Temperatures will struggle to get out of the low-60s on Sunday. Some lingering rain may be present Monday morning, but most should be moving out after the morning hours. We are still tracking a warmup into at least the mid-70s through middle next week.
