Beloved Illinois-based grocer ALDI will soon launch a new kind of meal product to help with everyday meal prep.
The grocery store, with its US headquarters in Batavia, on Tuesday announced its planning to rollout its first-ever collection of ready-made meals. The meals, ALDI says, will be available in single-serve or family-size and and will all be priced under $15.
According to the release, single-serve meals offer at least 30 grams of protein, with between 16 and 22 grams for each family-sized meal.
“We tested hundreds of recipes as we developed this collection, with quality as our top standard from the very beginning,” Terry Jackson, head of food at Kitchen Food Company and ALDI supplier of ready-made meals, said in the release. “We want every meal to hit the mark on bold flavor and stand out ingredients, so even when time is short, shoppers can still look forward to what’s on the table.”
The collection features fize single-serve meals and two family-sized ones, with the first rollout including the following:
Single-Serve Meals for under $8: Beef Bolognese Spaghetti Beef Brisket with White Mac & Cheese Butter Chicken & Rice Chicken Burrito Bowl Chicken Fettuccine Alfredo Family-Size Meals for under $15: Chicken and Bacon Mac n’ Cheese Meat Lovers Pizza BakeThe new meals will rollout in select stores starting in October, ALDI said, with the meals available nationwide by January 2027. Pre-made meals with new recipes will also launch at ALDI each month throughout the next year, the grocer said.
According to the release, the meals are made fresh and can be made in the microwave or oven.
The offering comes amid a viral trend on social media of users posting family meal prep hacks using similar meal kits from other grocery stores.
“Our shoppers are looking for meals that fit into busy lives without sacrificing quality or stretching their budgets,” Joan Kavanaugh, Vice President of National Buying, ALDI US said in the release. “That’s why we were thoughtful about how we entered this category. We’re evolving to meet our shoppers where they are by delivering fresh ingredients, great flavor and unbeatable value that they can always expect from ALDI.”
