(CNN) — A federal immigration agent shot a person Sunday in Austin, officials in the Texas city said.
City officials confirmed the shooting that involved Immigration and Customs Enforcement in North Austin. A news conference with Austin Mayor Kirk Watson and Police Chief Lisa Davis is planned, the advisory said.
The status of the person shot was not immediately known Sunday.
CNN affiliate KVUE was filming the aftermath of the incident, showing a damaged blue sedan near Anderson Square and US Route 183 in North Austin.
The Department of Homeland Security did not immediately respond to a request for comment.
Democratic Congressman Greg Casar, who represents Austin, said in a social media post he was calling for an independent investigation into the shooting.
