ROCHESTER, N.Y. — Honor Flight Rochester is celebrating its 97th mission, bringing local veterans to Washington for a special tribute and nearing a major milestone.
Mission 97 marks the start of the fall season for Honor Flight Rochester, with 59 veterans on board—including many who served in Vietnam and beyond. For some, this trip offers a homecoming they never received decades ago.
“So coming home to this is kind of like the cherry on the cake that finally they’re getting their accolades,” said Steve Rapp, publicity coordinator with Honor Flight. “It’s very therapeutic for a lot of them to finally, finally have what they’ve deserved from the beginning.”
The next mission will put Honor Flight Rochester over the mark of 5,000 veterans flown to Washington. This is a testament to the community’s ongoing support.
