Kalen DeBoer and the Alabama Crimson Tide were down 21-6 with 9:42 remaining in the second quarter, but went on a 20-0 run over the rest of the half to take a 26-21 lead into the half.
The Alabama defense had major issues stopping the Florida State offense, but the Alabama offense, led by quarterback Keelon Russell, got rolling and helped take the lead.
There was a weather delay late in the second quarter, so the teams started up the third quarter instantly. However, DeBoer still spoke to the sideline reporter at the half to break down a wild first half.
“We got to do a good job with our eyes defensively,” DeBoer said. “I think we’re better on the run here since the first drive or so. We got to do our job in pass coverage. Make sure we get our eyes in the right spot. Got to get off the field on third down. That was a costly drive, the one they converted three third downs. Offensively, we made some plays. Did a nice job of keeping Keelon upright there these last two drives. We got some momentum and can continue to capitalize on it.”

Last year, these two teams played, and the same thing happened in Tallahassee, as the Seminoles got up big and never let the Crimson Tide back in the game. On Saturday, Russell continued to show that growth as a quarterback and got his team right back in the game.
The second half is going to be big for both teams, but also for both coaches. If the Crimson Tide are unable to get back in the game, DeBoer is going to hear the murmurs from the Alabama fans. Florida State coach Mike Norvell is already on the hot seat, but a second consecutive win against Alabama could do wonders for him with the Florida State fans.
