The number of Chinese investing companies in Egypt has jumped to 3,366 firms, operating across multiple sectors, including textiles, ready-made garments, solar panels, chemical industries, automotive manufacturing, and logistics services, according to the General Authority for Investment and Free Zones (GAFI).
Speaking during her participation in the Investment Promotion Forum at the 26th China International Fair for Investment and Trade (CIFIT), held in Xiamen from Sept. 8 to 11, GAFI Deputy CEO Eman Mansour highlighted the growth of Egyptian-Chinese investment partnerships.
She described the “TEDA Egypt” project in the Suez Canal Economic Zone as a model for industrial cooperation, local manufacturing integration, and export-oriented production.Mansour said sustainability is a cornerstone of Egypt’s economic development plans, citing plans to raise green public investments to 60% of total public investments in FY2026/2027.
She also touched on promising investment opportunities in green hydrogen, renewable energy, electric vehicles, and advanced industries.On the margins of their participation in the global event, GAFI officials explored cooperation opportunities with international bodies and investment agencies from Saudi Arabia, Malaysia, and China, Mansour said.
Discussions covered bolstering cooperation in sustainable investment fields, enhancing private sector competitiveness and linking it to global value chains, as well as expertise-sharing and institutional cooperation, she pointed out.
