Sergey Tsivilev has said Russia will push for unrestricted energy flows at the G20
Russia will remain a guarantor for international energy security and cannot be excluded from global supply chains, Russian Energy Minister Sergey Tsivilev told TASS on Tuesday.
This interview preceded a three-day G20 energy ministers meeting in Houston, Texas, set to run Monday to Wednesday.
“The objective reality is that our country cannot be excluded from global supply chains. Russia has been, is, and will undoubtedly remain a reliable supplier of energy resources and a guarantor of energy security,” Tsivilev told TASS.
The country possesses the world’s largest oil and gas reserves and ranks fifth globally in coal reserves and fourth in LNG production, he added.
“Furthermore, Russia is the undisputed leader in nuclear technologies, commanding approximately 90% of the global market for nuclear power plant construction,” Tsivilev said.

This would guarantee “the unhindered flow of energy resources to where they are most needed, thereby reducing the risk of supply disruptions,” the minister said.
He emphasized that the world is currently facing “the most serious energy logistics crisis in modern history” stemming from disruptions to energy supplies through the Strait of Hormuz. The key waterway once facilitated approximately a quarter of the global oil trade, but has been severely obstructed due to the ongoing US conflict with Iran.
