ROCHESTER, N.Y. — A former co-owner and operator of the historic Esperanza Mansion in Yates County has been sentenced after previously pleading guilty to fourth-degree grand larceny for the theft of COVID-era Paycheck Protection Program funds.

Todd Alexander has been sentenced to 100 days of weekends in Yates County Jail, a $5,000 fine, and three years of probation. The Yates County District Attorney’s Office says restitution of over $320,000 was paid prior to Alexander’s sentencing.

Prosecutors say Alexander and Mary Olivo stole event and room deposits, as well as funds from the U.S. Small Business Administration. The two were initially charged with grand larceny, perjury, tampering with physical evidence, and tax fraud.

The DA’s Office says there are dozens of victims, including brides, members of wedding parties, Alexander’s former business partner, Larry Mehlenbacher, NYS Dept. of Tax and Finance, and the US Small Business Administration.
