The rally was spurred by a ridiculous 18-pitch at-bat from Tristan Peters. The All-Star outfielder fouled off a dozen pitches before finally taking ball four. With his pitch count at 113, Williams was removed. The White Sox would go on to score six times in the inning. Toronto also lost, so Cleveland remained one game ahead in the Wild Card race.
3. Dodgers and Yankees punch their tickets
The Dodgers and Yankees both secured postseason berths on Monday. Los Angeles did it behind a brilliant performance from Tarik Skubal. The lefty fired seven shutout innings with nine strikeouts in a win over the Reds. Kyle Tucker and Teoscar Hernandez both homered. New York dispatched the Twins in comeback fashion. Down 2-1 in the eighth inning, the Yankees strung together five hits to take the lead. Aaron Judge then capped the rally with a three-run homer, his first since returning from the IL.
