ROCHESTER, N.Y. – Back to Green on the Threat Tracker… Behind the cold front that helped to spark up some storms yesterday, high pressure will move in which will keep our skies mainly clear and our temperatures on the cooler side. Highs are unlikely to get past the upper 60s this afternoon… But with lower humidity, it will still be comfortable out. Much cooler overnight with lows around 50 near the lakeshore and down to the mid and upper 40s towards the south.
This week-early taste of fall will be short lived however, with temperatures rising back up to the mid 70s tomorrow alongside partly cloudy skies and a modest southerly breeze. Humidity will still be on the lower side, making for very comfortable conditions for all things outdoors like the first day of the Fringe Festival.
Wednesday morning a cold front will approach with humidity building ahead of it. This will bring some showers for the morning, followed by mainly dry but still muggy and cloudy skies for the afternoon. The cold front then transitions into a stationary front, meaning Western New York will come in range of some thunderstorms on Thursday. These will weaken later on but could still be dealing with wet conditions for the home opener at the Bills’ new Highmark Stadium.
The workweek ends much like how it started, with high pressure moving in and keeping our skies dry and mostly sunny, but also keeping our temperatures cool. The weekend is looking like a mixed bag with showers and storms at times… At this point looking most likely Saturday night.
