The long wait is finally over for Chicago Bears fans, as the team will finally kick off its 2026 season against the Carolina Panthers.
The Bears are coming off of their first division title since 2018 and their first playoff win since 2011, and they’re hungry for more as the regular season gets underway in Charlotte on Sunday afternoon.

The offensive line is mostly intact, though the retirement of Drew Dalman did force the Bears to go out and get center Garrett Bradbury. All-Pro left guard Joe Thuney is back in the mix, and he’ll work next to starting left tackle Braxton Jones, who won the job out of training camp.
On defense the Bears will have a dramatically different secondary, though they are missing safety Coby Bryant after he suffered an injury in training camp. Xavier Woods was brought in as a replacement, though he is also questionable for Sunday’s game.
Rookie safety Dillon Thieneman will be thrust into the spotlight early in his first career game, and he’ll hope to keep the Bears’ offense on the field as much as possible in the game.
The defensive line will get plenty of attention as the Bears try to improve their pass rush, one of their weak points a season ago. Montez Sweat and Dayo Odeyingbo are expected to get some work off the edges, but look for Jordan van den Berg and Austin Booker to also potentially get some playing time at tackle and end respectively during the contest.
