Days of Our Lives is bringing the Vitali family back to the forefront as Heated Rivalry star Franco Lo Presti joins the Peacock streaming soap opera as Dante Vitali, and Salem will never be the same.
TV Insider’s Stephanie Sloane interviewed Lo Presti about joining the daytime drama, where he opened up about his personal connection to the series and how Heated Rivalry surpassed all expectations.
Viewers first heard about Dante Vitali last year when Sami Brady (Alison Sweeney) returned to the soap opera for the series 60th anniversary in November, where she revealed that she is engaged to Dante Vitali, an extended member of the Vitali mob family.
During the conversation with TV Insider, Lo Presti revealed a bit about his character’s backstory. “He was born and grew up in Italy and educated at this pretty top-tier English boarding school,” he explained.
Lo Presti explained that Dante is trying to distance himself from the family name by building his own “dynasty” in finance. “There’s definitely an old-school quality to him,” he shared. “He’s super passionate, he’s sincere and incredibly generous, but he’s also someone that you probably shouldn’t underestimate.”
Lo Presti explained that for Dante, Loyalty means a “lot” to him, and something he values a lot.
The actor shared he was excited for the audience to watch him come to Salem and “slowly peel back those layers and discover what’s really driving him.”
Lo Presti will make his debut beginning on Monday, September 14, and is expected to air for a “limited” run.
It is currently unknown whether Lo Presti will get to share scenes with his on-screen fiancé, Sami, as Sweeney is not on the series. The soap did, however, recently tease Sweeney’s return, along with other members of the Brady family, for the summer of 2027. Will Lo Presti join her then? Fans will have to stay tuned to find out.
Lo Presti can also be seen in Season 1 of the hit series Heated Rivalry and is rumored to appear in the series upcoming second season. Still, when asked directly about it, the beloved actor shared viewers will have to “tune in” and find out.
