A suburban woman was pronounced dead after she was pulled from Lake Michigan near Chicago’s Grant Park on Friday evening, police said.
Around 8:30 p.m., Chicago police marine officers responded to a call of a person in the water near the 300 block of South Lake Shore Drive and recovered an unresponsive woman from the water near Monroe Harbor, authorities said.
The woman, who was later identified as 34-year-old Martina Ronak Christian of Des Plaines, was transported to a local hospital where she was pronounced dead, police said.
An investigation into the circumstances surrounding the incident remains ongoing.
Video posted to social media showed several fire trucks on Lake Shore Drive near Monroe Harbor during the emergency response.
