GENEVA, N.Y. — On Wednesday, the City of Geneva started working to improve marina facilities and long pier stabilization along Seneca Lake.
The project specifically aims to improve public access and facilities along the lake, supporting tourism. The project itself is being funded through a $750,000 grant from the city’s $10 million Downtown Revitalization Initiative, and $924,000 from the Local Waterfront Revitalization Program.
“When waterfront recreation and downtown revitalization come together like this, it results in the perfect formula for long-term community sustainability, quality of life and economic development,” said New York Secretary of State Walter T. Mosley. “We are proud that two of our signature community development programs have converged to improve the waterfront experience and re-connect it to Geneva’s burgeoning downtown. This is exactly the kind of strategic investment that strengthens communities, supports economic development and improves quality of life.”
The groundbreaking includes a 3,440 square feet floating dock system, floating kayak launch, a gangway connecting the existing fixed platform to floating docks, fixed bulkhead repairs, and the stabilization and repair of about a 12,400 square feet long pier.
