(CNN) — Kamala Harris will keynote a Fulton County Democrats dinner and stump with Georgia Sen. Jon Ossoff at the end of October, capping off a spate of appearances on the trail for a select group of candidates on the midterms ballot this year.
That positions Harris as a closer in one of the key Senate races in the country, in a state she narrowly lost to Donald Trump in 2024 but that is expected to again be a major battleground for the 2028 presidential election. And it means Ossoff, who is running for his second term, is taking a different approach than several other Democrats in tight races who have said they wouldn’t want to campaign with the former vice president.
“Senator Ossoff is grateful for Vice President Harris’ help and support in his re-election campaign,” Ossoff spokesperson Ellie Dougherty told CNN.
While that is likely to be Harris’ last stop on the 2026 campaign trail, it will not be her only one.
Harris and her aides are finalizing her schedule, but she’s already slated to appear with two top House Democratic candidates in her home state of California: Marni Von Wilpert, who is running in a district around San Diego held by retiring GOP Rep. Darrell Issa, and Richard Pan, who is running in a district around Sacramento against independent Rep. Kevin Kiley.
She’ll also be stumping for Nevada Attorney General Aaron Ford, a longtime ally running for governor. That will put her in an early primary state that she had been focused on even before she suddenly became the Democratic nominee in 2024.
“It is critical for Democrats to win this November so we can fight the Trump administration’s corruption and work to lower costs for the American people,” said her spokesperson Eduardo Negrón. “Vice President Harris will continue to do whatever is needed to support candidates in races where she can be helpful.”
The stops come as Harris is mulling whether to make another run for president in 2028, and as Democrats around the country debate whether they want her to. Several candidates have explicitly said they don’t want Harris to appear for them, including Mary Peltola and Adam Hamilton, running for Senate in Alaska and Kansas, respectively, and Rob Sand, the Democratic nominee for governor in Iowa.
It also comes as other potential Democratic candidates have been fanning out on the campaign trail for others running in this year’s races, including in several early presidential primary states.
Ossoff is being discussed as one of those potential presidential contenders himself, though he told CNN in June that he is not interested in running.
