POTTER, N.Y. — A Penn Yan man has been indicted on various charges related to the death of a toddler in Yates County.
David Ingalls, 26, is charged with manslaughter, criminally negligent homicide, and endangering the welfare of a child.
Yates County Sheriff’s deputies say in June 2025, they responded to a home in the Town of Potter regarding a toddler who was unresponsive and not breathing. The toddler was brought to Soldiers and Sailors Memorial Hospital, where deputies say the toddler was pronounced dead.
Investigations into the death ended with a presentation to a Yates County Grand Jury, according to deputies. Ingalls was later indicted on his charges and arrested on a superior court arrest warrant. He was taken into custody without incident and brought to the Yates County Jail.
