CANANDAIGUA, N.Y. — The Nordquist family held a memorial for Sam Nordquist along Canandaigua Lake after the sentencings of Precious Arzuaga and Jennifer Quijano.
Friends and family from across the nation gathered near Kershaw Park this afternoon. The family said the memorial will stand not only as a way to remember Sam but also as a way to remember the community’s support.
“I’ve known everybody here ever since this ordeal started. And we started coming out here for the court appearances. I mean, yeah, we FaceTime and we’ve talked on the phone and text messaged, but now to actually see them and we see them every time we’re here and we always make plans to do something,” said Linda Nordquist, Sam’s mother.
The community gave the Nordquist family two plaques – one will go home with the family and one will stay in Canandaigua so that people here never forget Sam and what happened to him.
