World Junior Record holder Malte Graefe of Germany has announced his commitment to continue his academic and athletic career at the Florida beginning in the fall 2027.

Graefe, a breaststroker from Potsdam, Germany, swims for Potsdamer SV and is a member of the German national team. He most recently competed at the 2026 European Championships where he made semifinals of the 50 breast, touching in a 27.07 for 10th. He also swam in prelims of the 200 breast, touching in a lifetime best 2:12.98 for 26th.
Last summer, Graefe swam to a World Junior Record in the boys 50 breast, touching in a 26.95 in prelims at the 2025 World Junior Championships. He went on to win silver in the event in the final in a 26.99. He also swam a lifetime best 1:00.21 100 breast for 5th at 2025 World Juniors.
Graefe’s Best LCM Times (With SCY Conversions) Are:
50 breast: 26.95 (23.37) 100 breast: 1:00.21 (52.44) 200 breast: 2:12.98 (1:56.19)The Florida men finished 2nd at the 2026 SEC Championships and went on to finish 2nd at the 2026 NCAA Championships, finishing behind Texas at both meets. The team scored 416 points at NCAAs.
Based on his best converted times, Graefe would already make the SEC ‘B’ final of the 100 breast while his 200 breast converted time would have made the SEC ‘C’ final. It took a 51.45 100 breast and a 1:52.10 200 breast to earn an invite to 2026 NCAAs. Koen de Groot led the Gators this past season with a 50.22 in the 100 breast which he swam for 2nd at SECs.
Graefe will arrive next fall as a member of the class of 2031 along with Julian Granison, Griffin Oehler, Trent Allen, and Luke Zardavets.
