A car carrying five people lost control and went crashing into water Tuesday in Chicago, leaving at least one person still missing and another seriously hurt.

According to Chicago police, the crash happened around 2:30 a.m. in the 13000 block of South Indiana Avenue.

There, police said a vehicle lost control, struck a barrier and fell into the Little Calumet River.

At least one person was rescued by the Chicago Fire Department marine unit and taken to an area hospital in serious condition. Three others were able to exit the vehicle and make it to land safely, but one woman remained missing.

A searched remained ongoing as of Tuesday morning and police said the cause of the crash is under investigation.
