A man died after jumping from a moving CTA train in Chicago on Monday afternoon, police said.
Around 2:30 p.m., a man of unknown age jumped from a moving Red Line train near the 69th Street station, located at 15 W. 69th St. He landed on the electrified third rail and became incapacitated, authorities said. He was then struck by an oncoming train and later pronounced dead at the scene, police said.
The emergency response prompted major delays and congestion on the Red Line, with CTA officials warning riders to plan for extra travel time.
Authorities are continuing to investigate.
