From McDreamy to McSteamy, Grey’s Anatomy‘s Grey Sloan Memorial Hospital has been heartthrob headquarters for over two decades. When season 23 premieres this fall, hearts will likely be racing over the new guy in town.
After two longtime characters left Grey’s Anatomy in the season 22 finale — Teddy (Kim Raver) and Owen (Kevin McKidd) — actor James Wolk will become the newest member of the iconic medical drama’s cast, per Deadline.

The outlet reported on September 4 that Wolk will play Seth Norton on Grey’s Anatomy, described as “a handsome, arrogant surgeon-turned-businessman whose focus on the bottom line never wavers.” Norton owns a “luxury care medical center” called Olympic Regent Health, where his patients “pay out of pocket for elevated care.”
Wolk’s new gig is one of many roles keeping him busy these days. He currently appears on Ryan Murphy’s FX drama The Shards, will soon be seen in Vought Rising (Prime Video’s prequel to The Boys), and will also have a recurring role on AMC’s 2027 NASCAR series Thunder Road alongside Dennis Quaid and Chase Stokes.
James Wolk Says His Hallmark Role ‘Changed the Course of My Life’
The Mad Men and Zoo alum has landed many plum TV roles since graduating from Michigan’s School of Music, Theatre & Dance in 2007. But his first standout role was portraying Brad Cohen in the 2008 Hallmark Hall of Fame movie Front of the Class, which premiered on CBS before airing on Hallmark Channel.
Front of the Class was based on the true story of Cohen, who defied the odds by becoming a second-grade teacher, and eventually being named Teacher of the Year. It was quite a feat after being diagnosed with Tourette syndrome at age 10, and facing years of uncontrollable vocal tics and physical movements. Wolk studied extensively to play the role, which made a lasting impact on him.
In 2021, Wolk told Modern Luxury, “I would say my favorite role was the first big break I got, which was a movie about a guy with Tourette syndrome called Front of the Class. … Up until that point nothing was really breaking for me, but it was one of those moments where I went in for this audition, got this role and it started my career. But it’s also because of that film that I met my wife. So that specific audition definitely changed the course of my life.”
Front of the Class is available to stream via Hallmark+. Meanwhile, the new season of Grey’s Anatomy premieres on October 15 at 10 p.m. ET.
