Florida high school state finalist Kylie Coles has announced her commitment to swim and study at the University of North Florida, becoming the first publicized commit in the university’s class of 2031. She publicized the news on SwimCloud, writing:
I’m so grateful to announce my verbal commitment to continue my academic and athletic career at the University of North Florida! I would like to thank God for guiding me every step of the way, and to my family and friends for your endless love and support. A huge thank you to Coach Ryan, Coach Nicole, Coach Kristyn, and Coach Kim for believing in me and helping me become the swimmer and person I am today. I would also like to thank Coach Lindsey for this amazing opportunity! I’m so grateful and can’t wait for this next chapter as an Osprey!
A rising senior at George Steinbrenner High School in Lutz, Florida, Coles has been a member of her school’s varsity swimming team since her freshman year. She also trains year-round with Tampa Elite Aquatics, where she primarily specializes in middle-distance freestyle.
Coles is coming off a 2025-26 season that saw her drop over three seconds in the 200 free, about a second and a half in the 500 free, over a second in the 100 free, and nearly eight tenths in the 50 free. She set the majority of her current personal bests at the Florida Senior Championships in March, where she touched eighth in the 500 free (5:03.28), 10th in the 50 free (24.42), and 14th in the 200 free (1:53.30), as well as leading off a 4×100 free relay in 52.91, before lowering her time in the 200 free to 1:52.36 at a time trial this July.

With two full seasons of training still to go before she even lines up at her first conference meet, Coles already has the times to make an impact: her career bests in the 200 and 500 free would have been fast enough to make the ‘B’ finals, while times of 23.97 and 52.19 were needed to score in the 50 and 100 free.
