ROCHESTER, N.Y. — A back-to-school event that included free bookbags, school supplies, shoes, and clothing took place from 3 p.m. to 6 p.m. at the Tops parking lot at 491 West Avenue on Friday.
The giveaway was led by PI’s Lounge, Copeland Twins Production, and other local sponsors.
“This event exemplifies the positive outcomes that can be achieved when our community unites around our children. Preparing for a new school year should be a joyous occasion for every child. We strive to ensure that our young people enter school feeling confident, supported, and ready to learn—stepping into greatness and embracing their future,” said Commissioner Jacqueline D. Griffin of the Rochester City School District. “I extend my heartfelt gratitude to Larry Copeland Sr., the proprietor of PI’s Lounge, as well as Copeland Twins Production, our sponsors, volunteers, and community partners who are dedicating their time and resources to enrich the lives of Rochester families.”
The event was supported by Senator Jeremy Cooney, the Rochester City School District, Rochester City Council Vice President LaShay D. Harris, along with 105.5 THE BEAT, 1199SEIU, ABC Head Start, and other donors, supporters, and organizations.
