Traffic was backed up for miles after a crash on I-88 in the western suburbs of Chicago at the start of the afternoon rush hour on Thursday afternoon.
Around 4 p.m., aerial video captured by NBC Chicago Sky 5 showed all but one of the westbound lanes of I-88 were shut down after a crash that appeared to involve a bridge carrying railroad tracks over the interstate.
Crews could be seen working at the scene as hundreds of drivers sat in snarled traffic that backed up from near Eola Road in Aurora to North Washington Street in Naperville.
Delays of up to an hour were expected as of 4 p.m., according to Total Traffic.
It was not immediately clear when or how the crash occurred or if anyone was injured.
