An Elgin man was charged with first-degree murder after prosecutors said he killed his former girlfriend with a knife and a dumbbell.
Christian B. Flores, 54, is accused of killing 52-year-old Charity Geisel, of Elgin, the Kane County State’s Attorney’s Office and Elgin police said Monday.
Geisel was found dead in her home near Princeton Avenue and Harvard Lane on Sunday, prompting a large police presence.
Authorities said Flores allegedly used a knife and dumbbell, intending to cause great bodily harm, leading to Geisel’s death.
An autopsy revealed Geisel died from blunt and sharp force injuries due to an assault.
Following an investigation by Elgin police, Flores was arrested by law enforcement in Indiana.
As of Monday evening, he remained in Indiana and was awaiting extradition to Kane County.
