After two world records fell on the opening day on Friday, two more went down on Saturday, both of which came in the 100 breaststroke.
First, in the women’s SB4 100, 18-year-old Alessandra Oliveira Dos Santos took down her own World Record in the SB4 category in 1:40.63; that time finished 9th overall among all participants in the event and marked a near full second drop from her previous all-time standard of 1:41.47 from December of 2025.
In that same event, American Olivia Chambers notched an American record in the S12 category in 1:18.25, lowering the record time by a near half second.
The very next event, the men’s 100 breaststroke, Japan’s Naohide Yamaguchi lowered his own SB14 World Record of 1:02.53 from August of 2025, turning in the fastest overall time in the event in 1:02.38.
Several other American records were lowered in Walnut, as Katie Kubiak, who notched a world record on day 1, lowered the American Record in the women’s S5 50 backstroke twice on day 2; first touching in 40.69 in the prelims, before smashing that time in the finals in 40.18.
Aiden Stivers followed a similar trajectory to Kubiak in the men’s S9 100 breast, touching in 1:10.43 in the prelims, initially lowering his own national record, before blasting an even faster time in the finals to improve on that time in 1:09.90.
Aspen Shelton demolished the women’s SB2 American record in the 50 breast, swimming nearly two seconds faster than the previous top American mark in 1:06.42.
Dillon Mezey added another American Record in the men’s S3 50 back in 59.27, while Josie Dolan notched another national standard in the prelims of the women’s SB9 100 breast in 1:21.68.
Australia was untouchable in the relays, as the Aussie contingents in the Mixed 4×100 free relay in both the S14 (3:45.33) and 34-point (4:07.64) categories, and the mixed 4×50 free relays 20 points (3:01.63), securing gold in all three.
