Nottingham Forest lead the race for Pape Matar Sarr amid interest from Europe for the Tottenham Hotspur midfielder.
Galatasaray and Monaco have been linked with the 23-year-old this summer but Forest are now hopeful of signing the Senegal international on an initial loan deal. Spurs value Sarr at £20m and a deal could include the option to buy next summer.
Forest are seeking midfield reinforcement after selling Elliot Anderson to Manchester City and had previously shown an interest in Tottenham’s Lucas Bergvall.
Spurs boss Roberto De Zerbi wants to keep Bergvall and while he had also called Sarr a “very important player”, the midfielder was not in the matchday squads to face Brentford or Charlton Athletic this past week.
It is believed the player’s desire is to remain in the Premier League.
Glasner wants Munoz reunion
An intriguing final few days of the summer transfer window awaits Forest when it comes to full-backs.
The club have bid £22m for Crystal Palace right wing-back Daniel Munoz, but just as Oliver Glasner seeks a reunion with the Colombian, the Forest head coach faces a late challenge to keep hold of Neco Williams.

Celta Vigo right-back Javi Rueda is also on Forest’s radar, and the club may revisit that transfer if Spurs advance their interest in Williams.
One or two more Brazilians at Forest?
Forest have also seen an approach for Brazilian right-back Dodo rejected by Fiorentina, according to reports in Italy.
Dodo is part of the same Brazilian-based agency, Bertolucci Sports, that also boasts Forest trio Omari Hutchinson, Jair Cunha and Morato among the players in their stable.
With five Brazilian players in the current Forest squad, there could yet be seven by the end of the window with the club also targeting Corinthians midfielder Andre.
The 20-year-old has also been linked with Palace, Juventus and Fenerbahce over the summer.
The Liam Delap fee explained
Forest spent a club-record £50m on Liam Delap earlier this week, an eye-watering sum given the striker had scored just two goals for Chelsea last season.
That made for a £20m profit for Chelsea, although sports finance expert Professor Rob Wilson argues the jump in price is not simply about transfer inflation during a window where three £100m-plus deals have taken place in the Premier League (Anderson, Morgan Rogers, Sandro Tonali) and two more (Enzo Fernandez, Bradley Barcola) could follow.
“The key is that Chelsea’s £30m purchase last summer was via a relegation release clause,” Wilson tells The i Paper. “That was effectively a discounted price rather than necessarily his true market value.

“So Forest paying £50m now isn’t really his value jumping £20m after one season, it’s more Chelsea buying below market value and then selling him closer to the going rate.
“There are a few other factors to throw in, too. He’s still only 23, he is homegrown, and plays in probably the most expensive position to recruit. There is a premium on young English strikers, and Forest are paying for what they think he can become rather than what he did at Chelsea last season.”
