ROCHESTER, N.Y. – A big area of high pressure to our west will keep our skies clear Friday night, which will also allow our temperatures to drop quickly. Most of us will wake up Saturday morning to temperatures in the lower 50s, some spots in the upper 40s well south. There’s a chance we could see the Northern Lights Friday night, so a clear sky would certainly be great for viewing if the aurora does decide to make an appearance! Despite that cool start, we’ll warm nicely back into the upper 70s by Saturday afternoon with low humidity and plenty of sunshine.
Sunday will feature a little more cloud cover, and a little more mugginess to the air as a warm front approaches the area. There’s the slight chance we could see a shower develop late in the day Sunday, but the majority (if not all of the weekend) should end up dry. Sunday’s highs will once again reach into the upper 70s.
Then we’ll start to tap into a more summer-like pattern for the start of meteorological Fall next week. A big ridge to our west will begin to move east. We won’t get the hottest air into the Northeast, but we will warm back into the 80s and humidity will start to climb. The storm track will closer to us, meaning we’ll have more opportunities for showers and storms Monday through at least Wednesday, possibly into Thursday. The Labor Day Weekend is still a ways away, but it is in our 10 day forecast, and at this early point it looks comfortable and dry. Stay tuned for updates if you have any plans.
