With the arrival of Week 0, college football season is officially here.
The 2027 NFL Draft is 244 days away, so players have plenty of time to make a case for the No. 1 overall pick when the event opens in Washington, D.C., at the National Mall.
ESPN NFL Draft insider Jordan Reid has a rundown of the early odds for prospects who have a shot to go first overall in what looks to be one of the most highly anticipated drafts in recent memory. And while we hope the Chicago Bears won’t be picking anywhere near the top of the draft, it doesn’t hurt to keep an eye out for the class’s top prospects.

2027 NFL Draft: Who Do the Mocks Have the Bears Taking?
Even though it felt like everyone dropped their first 2027 NFL Draft prognostication this week, there are three I want to highlight because of who they send to the Bears.
JORDAN REID (ESPN) — Jordan Seaton, LSU offensive tackle
This is what Reid had to say about Seaton, who he has going 16th overall to Chicago’s football team:
Ozzy Trapilo has recovered remarkably quickly from a torn patellar tendon, but there will still be questions about how long that injury will linger and his overall upside at left tackle. Until we know how well Trapilo will play, left tackle should be viewed as a huge question mark in Chicago. Seaton is an easy-moving pass protector who plays with excellent balance. He still needs to work on his hand placement, but his raw tools could eventually make him the top offensive tackle in next year’s class if he performs well against an SEC schedule.
We will see countless mock drafts sending potential left tackle prospects to the Bears in the 2027 NFL Draft until Ozzy Trapilo proves to be (1) healthy and (2) good. If Trapilo checks both boxes, then mock drafts will pivot to other positions of perceived need. Defensive tackle and cornerback come to mind. But until we cross that bridge, I am prepared to get to know a bunch of different offensive tackle names.
NICK BAUMGARDNER (THE ATHLETIC) — Trevor Lauck, Iowa offensive tackle
This is what Baumgardner had to say about Lauck, who he has going 21st overall:
If Lauck has a big year, he won’t be available in the 20s come draft weekend. The 6-5, 314-pounder was incredibly smooth at left tackle opposite Gennings Dunker last year. He can be a right or left tackle, offering terrific run-blocking potential at either spot.
Two things I love: A versatile offensive lineman and a blocker who played collegiately at Iowa. History says it is hard to go wrong when taking a Hawkeyes lineman. I imagine many will share that sentiment when the 2027 NFL Draft rolls around.

The folks at Tankathon have Hardy going 20th to the Bears. And while they don’t have a blurb on the Mizzou back, Baumgardner does in his piece at The Athletic. For what it’s worth, he has Hardy going to the Baltimore Ravens with the 31st overall pick in the 2027 NFL Draft:
Hardy (5-10, 206) has a gas pedal that goes from zero to “whoa” in a hiccup. He forced 97 missed tackles last year and is like watching a great punt returner when he has open grass. He’s an explosive football player and an ascending talent.
Taking a running back might not be popular among Bears fans, but it might make sense if one is the best player on the board and the team has solved its offensive tackle, defensive line, and cornerback issues before NFL Draft weekend opens its doors.
