BTS ARMY has taken over Soldier Field the past few mornings, with fans lined up as early as 3 a.m. hoping to score limited edition merchandise or even last-minute tickets to see the iconic K-pop group.
Wednesday, Thursday and Friday, NBC 5 cameras captured fans lining up outside merchandise tents before the sun rose.
“Gotta get that limited-editing merch, it really fast,” one fan said. “Early bird gets the worm.”
Lines were even longer Thursday and Friday, with more than 100 people already waiting, with items ranging from $15 light sticks to sweatsuits for $220.
Technically, fans weren’t allowed to line up until 6 a.m., signs showed, but that didn’t stop pre-lines from forming. Some said they were hoping to get face-value tickets expected to be sold in front of the stadium, with queues already set up.
Early Friday morning, resale ticket prices on StubHub were upwards of $570.
Gates for the show open at at 6 p.m., with the second of BTS’ two Chicago shows set to begin at 8 p.m. Major traffic impacts on DuSable Lake Shore Drive before and after the show are expected.
