PITTSFORD, N.Y. — A new sidewalk in Pittsford is now open.
A ribbon-cutting was held Tuesday morning for the town’s newest sidewalk on East Street. The sidewalk connects hundreds of homes to the town’s sidewalk system and provides access to Park Road Elementary School.
The town supervisor says the new sidewalk makes it safer and easier for people to get around Pittsford and beyond.
“If you want to, because of this sidewalk you can now walk from Mendon town line by sidewalk safely all the way to the village to the Brighton town line. That has been the result of making short connections along that route,” Supervisor Bill Smith said.
The East Street sidewalk project was paid with grant funding. Smith says work is already underway on another sidewalk project along Tobey Road.
