Jane Fonda is mourning the loss of her longtime friend and 9 to 5 costar Dolly Parton.

“I am devastated. I just learned that Dolly has moved on,” Fonda said in a statement.

The actress called Parton “the voluptuous embodiment of empathy,” adding that it was one of the qualities she hoped people would carry with them.
Fonda also had a special message for Parton’s LGBTQ+ fans. “To her gay and trans fans, I want you to know that she loved you. You know that without me telling you,” she said. “She loved all her fans and they are legion.”
The Book Club star encouraged fans to celebrate her life and legacy. “And you know she doesn’t want y’all to mourn now. Dress up and celebrate her spirit,” she said.
Fonda also reminded fans about the Grace and Frankie series finale, where Parton made a surprise appearance as an angel. “But first, watch the final episode of Grace and Frankie where she’s an Angel, the head honcho working class angel in Heaven.”
