ROCHESTER, N.Y. — Two people face attempted murder and other charges in the shooting of a man found in the woods of Cobbs Hill Park in June. the 18-year-old man, who had been shot multiple times in the upper body, survived.
According to the Rochester Police Department, detectives identified Antwaine Vick and Nyree Brown, both 18, as being involved in the attempted robbery and shooting of the victim. Over the past several weeks, the U.S. Marshal’s Violent Fugitive Task Force found Vick and Brown and took them into custody.
Police had responded to the area of the Cobbs Hill reservoir at around 1;15 a.m. June 19 for the report of a male shot. They found a crashed Honda that had been hit by at least one bullet, plus evidence that someone had been shot in the car. The victim was found in the woods with the help of Brighton and Irondequoit police, along with drone technology, and he was taken to Strong Memorial Hospital. Investigators found there was a large party at a short-term rental property on Monroe Avenue, and the victim was shot when he left the party heading to his car parked on Alliance Avenue. He tried to drive off in his car, crashed, and ran into the woods, police said.
In addition to attempted murder, Vick and Brown were charged with assault, attempted robbery and criminal possession of a weapon.
