SYRACUSE, N.Y. — The 58th annual butter sculpture at the Great New York State Fair has been unveiled, and it pays tribute to the Empire State’s influence on American traditions.
This year’s sculpture pays tribute to America’s 250th anniversary by depicting New York State traditions. That includes baseball in Cooperstown, the legacy of America’s first state fair held in Syracuse in 1841, the New York City skyline, and fireworks illuminating the night.
The sculpture, titled “Milk. Memories. Tradition. Rooted in New York,” took about 800 pounds of butter to build.
