The three-week collaboration rolls out in two parts, beginning August 27, and both flavors sound like they were practically made for PopUp Bagels’ signature “Grip, Rip and Dip” approach to eating bagels.
So, which Papa Johns favorites are making the jump from pizza night to morning breakfast? If you’ve ever found yourself wishing there were more of those little extras in the box, you can probably guess where this is going.
What Are the New Papa Johns x PopUp Bagels Flavors?
Papa Johns
First up is the Pepperoncini Schmear, which launches Aug. 27. Inspired by the single pepperoncini pepper that comes tucked inside every Papa Johns pizza box. The cream cheese combines pickle-like tang and a little punch of heat with a rich, creamy base. In other words, if you’re someone who thinks one pepperoncini in the box is never enough, this one has your name all over it.
Then, on Sept. 3, things get garlicky.
The Special Garlic Sauce Butter takes inspiration from that familiar cup of buttery garlic sauce that has accompanied countless slices of Papa Johns pizza. The new schmear transforms those savory, garlicky flavors into a rich butter designed for dipping pieces of warm bagel.
“Few menu items inspire the kind of loyalty and love that our Special Garlic Sauce and signature pepperoncini do,” said Shivram Vaideeswaran, senior vice president of brand marketing at Papa Johns, in a statement.
Hard to argue with that. After all, plenty of pizza chains can deliver pepperoni and cheese. It’s the pepperoncini and that unmistakable garlic sauce that immediately tell you there’s a Papa Johns box on the table.
