VICTOR, N.Y. — A man is sharing his story after a dump truck crashed into the Lilac Laundromat in Victor last Thursday.
Anthony Pellicano was inside doing laundry when the crash happened. Pellicano said the dump truck hit a car out front before crashing into the building, just missing another woman inside.
“All I’m doing is folding my clothes minding my own business when I hear BOOM BOOM then I see the truck hit her car and pushed it into the door,” Pellicano said.
Pellicano sent photos from inside the building and captured drone footage of the scene outside. The truck was wedged inside and the white car blocked the door.
The impact also caused a gas leak. Pellicano said after the crash he heard a hissing sound and the smell of gas filled the building.
With the closest doors blocked off, Pellicano said he made his way to the other woman and helped her get out.
“I’m no athlete or anything — I’ve got two resurfaced hips, I don’t run for anything. But when she was screaming I just ran to her,” Pellicano said.
Brad Ford, owner of the Lilac Laundromat, said a car also crashed into the building back in June.
“These things happen. They’re accidents. And, you know, we’re just happy to. Everyone’s safe. And we will work tirelessly to get this place restored. To make it safe so that community can use it again,” Ford said.
Ford said Victor Fire and RG&E were on scene right away and it didn’t take too long to get the leak under control. He’s hoping to be back open within a couple weeks.
Ford also said the building’s gas meter has been moved to the back of the building to keep this from happening again.
