Zabien Brown, cornerback
Brown entered a defensive back room that had been hollowed out by the transfer portal in 2024, but he quickly proved that his immediate starts as a freshman were not due to lack of options at the position. The junior cornerback hasn’t looked back since earning freshman All-SEC honors and has started every game he has played for the Crimson Tide.
Recent mock drafts tend to have Brown chosen between the end of the first round and early second round in the 2027 NFL Draft. Mocks from CBS Sports, Pro Football Network and Bleacher Report all have Brown being selected between picks 22 and 30, while The Athletic and Yahoo Sports leave him outside of the first round.

Yhonzae Pierre, outside linebacker
Pierre was far from a first-round pick at the start of the 2025 season, when he was backing up Qua Russaw, now at Ohio State. After an injury to Russaw against Georgia, however, Pierre took up the mantle of starting outside linebacker and didn’t look back, finishing his season with eight sacks and 14.5 tackles for loss.
After choosing to return for his senior year rather than declaring for the 2026 NFL Draft, this season will be Pierre’s audition for the 2027 Draft. With an additional four games as a starter in 2026, his sack and tackle-for-loss numbers could easily rise and make him a top prospect at one of the most in-demand positions.
Pierre is viewed by many as an athletic, quick pass-rusher who can win with elite get-off and provide strong support, setting the edge against runs.
His primary obstacle to a first-round draft selection will be the competition he faces at his own position. Projected top ten picks Dylan Stewart from South Carolina and Colin Simmons from Texas will be highly sought after in 2027.
If he can bolster his numbers as a full-time starter, however, Pierre’s potential as a wide-9 edge rusher could lead to a team using a high pick to feature him at one of the NFL’s highest-paid positions.
“His instincts and processing speed routinely put him in position to create positive outcomes for the defense,” wrote Mason Riney, an analyst for Buccaneers Wire.
Ryan Coleman-Williams, wide receiver
While Coleman-Williams’ 2024 production was good enough to earn him second-team All-American honors as a freshman, his struggles with drops as a sophomore led to him dropping in mock drafts.
Coleman-Williams is now viewed by most as a late first-round pick in a loaded wide receiver class that is headlined by Ohio State star Jeremiah Smith. While CBS Sports and Yahoo Sports project him in the late teens of the first round, The Athletic has him as the No. 32 pick, while Pro Football Network has him outside of the first round entirely.
Despite his issue with drops in his sophomore season, Coleman-Williams’ 1554 receiving yards over the last two seasons are the second-most among returning receivers in the Power Four. While he is unlikely to be drafted above Smith, who is regarded as a generational prospect by several analysts, a bounce-back year could have Coleman-Williams right back as wide receiver two on draft boards.
“There’s a lot of distraction whenever you’re at the top of your game,” Coleman-Williams said at SEC Media Days. “[I’m] just taking all of my experiences and trying to learn and be my best self and really just focus on what got me here.”
