A woman has died and another was injured in a shooting at a northwest Indiana antique shop Saturday night.
According to the Lake County Sheriff’s Department, officers were called to Karmic Sunshine, an antique shop in the 2900 block of West 181st Avenue in Hebron, at 7 p.m. Saturday for reports of shots fired.
Arriving officers discovered a woman who had been shot and killed inside the antique shop, according to authorities. A second victim, a 24-year-old woman, was shot as she tried to flee the store according to police.
It is believed the shooter, identified as a 62-year-old man, died of a self-inflicted gunshot wound at the scene.
Police say the 24-year-old victim in the shooting was hospitalized, and her condition has since stabilized. Another man and a young child were inside the store at the time of the shooting, but they were not injured.
Indiana State Police assisted with the investigation into the shooting, which unfolded near the interchange of Interstate 65 and Indiana State Route 2. Nearby businesses, including a country music venue, went into lockdown following the shooting.
