ROCHESTER, N.Y. — Local bakers gathered at Highland Park on Saturday to showcase their work. It was part of Cake Fest ROC.
Organizers say guests are asked to bring a dessert to share, creating a giant, shared dessert table and a chance for local talent to shine.
“Someone comes in like, ‘I’ve never experienced something like this,’ but I think that was the whole point. Obviously, I’m a baker, and a big thing when you’re a baker is that you love when people eat your food. It makes them happy, so we figured doing an event around sugar but it just builds a sense of community,” said Alexxis Ellison of Baby Cake’s Baby Shop.
Ellison said she got the idea from New York City. For her first year hosting the event, she had 130 people come. This year, 155 people attended. Ellison said she hopes it will continue to grow.
