Drop 2 has concluded for the 2028 Los Angeles Olympics and more than 6 million tickets have been sold. LA28 has said that the “vast majority of available inventory sold.” The next opportunity to purchase tickets will come in early 2027.
All aquatics sport tickets sold out for standard tickets during drop 2 as no tickets remained for swimming, open water swimming, water polo, artistic swimming and diving. The VISA presale began with limited quantities of swimming tickets available with the ‘A’ tiered tickets priced at $1,116.27 for a prelims session.
The next opportunity to purchase tickets in 2027 will be on a first-come, first-served basis. This differs from the drop sessions in which people were given time slots to select their tickets. Another change is that there will be no ticket maximums anymore. Drops 1 and 2 had a limit of 12 Olympic event tickets. The date for the early 2027 first-come, first-served release has not yet been announced.
“The demand we’ve seen across both drops is a powerful signal that the world is energized for LA28,” said LA28 Chairperson and President, Casey Wasserman. “We’re grateful to every fan who participated, and we’re just getting started—2027 will bring more inventory, more access and more ways to be part of the greatest sporting event the world has seen.”
Fans wishing to secure tickets to the 2028 Los Angeles Olympics will not need to register for any more “draws” but will need to create a LA28 ID in order to purchase tickets. The verified resale program will also launch in 2027, although there has been no formal announcement regarding potential price controls, leaving uncertainty around affordability.
2027 will also bring the first opportunity for fans to purchase tickets for the 2028 Los Angeles Paralympics in the first Paralympic ticket drop.
