Popular NW Indiana waterpark closes for the season after destructive storms ...Middle East

News by : (NBC Chicago) -

Deep River Waterpark in northwest Indiana announced Friday it won’t reopen for the season after fierce storms tore through the area, causing widespread damage and left the attraction without power for several days.

The waterpark said in a Facebook post it was heavily impacted by severe storms that struck on Aug. 11.

“After power came back on 5 days later and we had a chance to assess fully the damage and how long it would take to get open, we quickly learned that it would take too long, to get open for our final 7 days of the season,” the post added, in part.

The waterpark is located in unincorporated Crown Point on U.S. 30, roughly four-and-a-half miles east of Interstate 65.

It is scheduled to open for the 2027 season on May 28.
